What a great conference, great speaker's, fantastic networking
opportunities and the functions were magnificent. The only thing
I was disappointed with was the venue; PLEASE take the event
back to a resort. [Thanks Bob - we hear you loud and clear and
indeed we have for 2009! Ed]
I arrived at the conference unsure whether it would be as good as
previous years, as I was aware of the change to NFPN's manage-
ment. I have to tell you though the event was as good as ever.
There was a very good range of topics run by very experienced
presenters. The conference kicked off with Peter Shergold, now
here's a man with passion, he got as all fired up for the three
days ahead. Following Peter was one of the best sessions I have
been to with Steve Simpson introducing us to UGR's (Unwritten
Ground Rules). This session was both stimulating and thought
provoking, I'm looking forward to hearing Steve speak again.
The rest of Wednesday had sessions running that catered for all
aspects of our industry.
Wednesday night hit and in teams we all went searching through-
out South Bank, well most us did, because when you all left I fol-
lowed Glen straight to the venue and enjoyed his company whilst
we waited for everyone to arrive.
OK back to the conference, Thursday's program had another great
range of topics for us to choose from I attended "Organisational
issues in a nutshell" presented by Jo, Noela, Megan and Judith,
four very knowledgeable ladies, this session gave us some use-
ful information to assist us to ensure our organisations continue
moving forward. I also spoke with someone that said the session
presented by Brett de Hoedt was brilliant, therefore another infor-
mative day was off to a good start.
Friday arrived we were all getting tired from taking in so much
information, but also looking forward to the Awards dinner that
night. The session that got me invigorated this day was "Look
out future, here I come" the presenter Karen Schmidt was fan-
tastic, we had lots of laughs, plenty of interaction and finished so
